For 50 years, the Northwest Steam Society (NWSS) has been a place for enthusiasts to share their passion for live steam, not only with other members of the society, but with the public at large through our event appearances and numerous casual gatherings.
Between our members, we have literally hundreds (if not thousands) of years of experience with this fascinating and history-filled energy source, and will continue to do our best to promote it to future generations.
We Take Safety Seriously.
Steam power is incredibly efficient and frankly, really fun to be around! The soft chugging of a steam engine, or the lonely wail of a steam whistle is at the same time exhilarating and comforting as a reliable old friend.
However, anyone who knows steam, also knows that it is an incredibly powerful force that deserves the greatest respect and care. That's why the NWSS takes the safety and maintenance of our members' vessels, vehicles and equipment very seriously. Boilers are inspected regularly to protect members and the public.
