Members of the Northwest Steam Society own a wide variety of steamboats, ranging from 8' to 70' and from steam outboards to quadruple expansion engines. This page will provide an opportunity for others to view these boats. Some are still under construction. The boats are arranged alphabetically by name followed by a brief description. SEA HORSE |
Jim & Shirley Hussey. 25' Compromise hull. 3" + 5.5" x 4" compound engine built by Ken Rhodes. Hobby Steam Boilers VFT 30. Now located in San Leandro, California with steaming in the Sacramento River Delta area. |

SHEHERAZADE |
John Fay. 20' Rose type hull with a 2" x 2" double simple engine. Formerly known as Firefly Mr. Fay purchased the vessel and had it shipped to Hawaii when work relocated him. |

SHENANDOAH |
Gerald & Phyllis Blain. The owner built the 30' hull as well as the 10+ HP steeple compound engine. Lots of brass including an excellent steam siren. Empty of everything but necessities and operator she'll do 12.5 mph. |

SIMON WILLARD |
Charlie Coghill. 22' lifeboat hull. The owner machined a 3" + 5" x 4" Burleigh compound from castings, constructed a 40 sq.ft. Roberts type boiler, and purchased a galvanized steel lifeboat hull to put it all in. |

SOPHIA |
Andy & Lenna Lizberg. 12' former tender to steamboat Echo. The engine is an auxilliary which Andy "borrowed" from Crest so that he might have a working steamboat while restoring Crest. |

SOUTHPAW |
Charles F. & Paula Anne Rader. 19' fantail launch with Tiny Power 3" x 4" engine and a Hobby Steam (Beckmann) boiler. Another good example of assembling a steamboat from pre-built components. |

SPRITE |
Terry & Anne Williams. A totally self-contained steam outboard motor. All components mount as a unit on the transom of an aluminum boat. Planing speed has been achieved! |

STEAM QUEEN |
Dennis & Rita Whitehead. 25' wood, carvel planked fantail hull, powered by a compound engine and Roberts type boiler burning wood/oil. Located in Britsh Columbia, the stylish house keeps company dry. |

STEAMED SEAGULL |
Russ "Hibby" Hibler. The entire unit is mounted on a British Seagull outboard chassis (hence the name) and very closely follows Terry Williams Sprite. Russ remarks that Terry did a lot of "hand-holding". |

TENACIOUS |
Doug & Darcy Brookens. 19' Thayer "Mountain Girl" fiberglass hull with a Reliable Steam compound engine and a "wet leg" VFT boiler. The owner is doing the work with help from several members of Kitsap Live Steamers |

TIAMAT |
Tom & Mary Alice Ray. 26' "Mosquito" hull powered by a Strath Steam compound engine with Everett Engineering VFT code boiler fired by a 12vdc Beckett oil burner. |

TINY SMOKER |
Ron Fossum & George Walrod. This is the original Genevieve put together in 1996-97 by Ryan Handel while a senior in high school. The new owners are installing a vertical fire tube boiler designed to burn propane. |

TORTOISE |
Dave & Sue Larson. 38'6" hard chine hull, designed and built by the owner. Twin screw powered by two Tiny Power compounds. Boiler built to ASME code by Bryan Steam Corp. |

TYLER II |
Michael & Susan Cross. Yet another steam outboard. The engine is based on a set of Stuart #9 castings. The separately mounted boiler is fired with propane. Another example of a steam propelled canoe. |

UNO |
Stephanie Hylton. 22' classic steamboat with an unknown 2.5" + 4" x 3" compound. Stephanie has owned Uno since 1973 and has maintained it well - the hull was built in 1894! |

VITAL SPARK |
John & Joellen Hope. 18' carvel planked with transom stern. Fore and aft compound engine built by Blackstaffe/Wood. As the new owners live on Lake Washington, she will continue to see much use. |

Colin C. & Rita Mathieson. 23+' Elliott Bay fantail hull powered by a Semple 5HP engine and Semple VFT 40 boiler fired by wood. |

WHATCOM PRINCESS |
Wolfgang & Angelika Schlager. 24' double-end lifeboat hull. Compound engine and Roberts type boiler. Who says a lifeboat hull can't achieve beauty! Leaded, stained glass windows in the cabin. |

WHISTLER |
John & Joanie Arnold. 23' Chris Craft hull, powered by a Semple 10 HP plant. A new code boiler by Everett Eng. installed in 2004. She carries 12 comfortably and can reach 8 knots. Proof that a hard chine hull makes a good steamer. |

WILHELMINA |
Kentic Steam Works. 46' steel sternwheel hull with two 4" x 16" engines turning an 8+' diameter wheel and a 200 sq.ft. boiler, all constructed by Scripps Foundry to USCG passenger carrying specs. |

WILLIAM FREDRICK |
Harv & Kim Lillegard. 23'6" Elliott Bay fantail hull powered by Pearl Engine Company's two cylinder, inverted crosshead, double simple engine - real "eye candy". With a VFT boiler she is a very traditional launch. |
