Members of the Northwest Steam Society own a wide variety of steamboats, ranging from 8' to 70' and from steam outboards to quadruple expansion engines. This page will provide an opportunity for others to view these boats. Some are still under construction. The boats are arranged alphabetically by name followed by a brief description. Robert & Vicki Schildwachter. 60' ex Royal Navy Harbor Service Launch, converted in 1962 by Robert Ellis to a steam yacht. The owner is completing an extensive restoration of the machinery and piping. |

Ken & Betty Hall. 23+' fantail launch. The owner built the triple expansion engine from castings - making many improvements - as well as the three drum watertube boiler. A well thought out marine plant. |

Myles Twete. 20' Rose hull in fiberglass. Engine is a double steeple compound from the Blackstaffe/Wood castings and boiler is to Blackstaffe design, but lengthened by 50%. |

Bart Smaalders. 19' fantail skipjack hull; engine made from a two cylinder GE refrigeration compressor; Lune Valley boiler. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a steamboat that can handle a family of four! |

Ken & Lesley Douch. 20' fantail launch with a Roberts type wood fired boiler. Traditional in every way (except the hull, which is fiberglass - but you can't tell that by looking). |

Fred & Cathy Thompson. 22' traditional fantail launch with a lovely Simpson/Strickland compound engine. The owner laid up the fiberglass hull himself and is doing all of the work to finish it. |

Wash & Teresa Kohnke. A classic 28' open launch hull built by the owner of Honduras mahogany. The engine is a copy of a traditional 15hp compound; the boiler is certified ASME. And she has just the right amount of brass. |

Ron Fossum & George Walrod. This is the original Genevieve put together in 1996-97 by Ryan Handel while a senior in high school. The new owners are installing a vertical fire tube boiler designed to burn propane. |

Rod & Verna McKerlich. 18' double-ended ex-lifeboat. Single cylinder engine and vertical firetube boiler make up a very simple plant, but one which gives the owners great pleasure. |

D. H. Avery & Marianna Pinchot. 26' fantail, the lines taken from Nat Herreshoff's private launch Kidd. A Beaumaris compound engine and Elliott Bay Launch ASME boiler provide power. |

Center for Wooden Boats. 21' Truscott "compromise" hull built in 1906. Powered by a Semple 5 hp engine with a new, code boiler by Everett Engineering, she is available for cruises by in the Summer. |

Mace & Mary Coleman. 23+' Elliott Bay fantail hull with a Semple 5 hp engine and 47 sq.ft. vertical firetube boiler. The owner burns wood and cruises at 7+ mph. |

Gordon & Beverly Sullivan. 20' carvel planked transom stern. Unusual Blackstaffe design 2.625" + 5.125" x 4" compound with Almy type boiler. This is the Quickstep's second major rebuild. |

John & Lois Campbell. 26' Navy motor whaleboat converted to steam. Semple 3" x 4" engine and Scotch boiler. The owners have traveled the Snake and Columbia Rivers as well as to Southeast Alaska in her. |

Skip & Kathleen Bold. 20' transom stern fiberglass hull. Semple 3" + 5" x 4" with Stephenson reversing. Engine and boiler, Nos. 603 and 703, were built by Semple for Edgar Bergen in 1960. |

Wolfgang & Angelika Schlager. The original Rose hull, built in 1969 by Bill Durham. Rose was lovingly restored by her previous owner, Barrie McClung, and the present owner meticulously maintains her. |

John K. Seeley. 24' aluminum lifeboat. The owner has incorporated many features not usually seen in hobby steamboats including a uniflow engine and jet condenser. |
