EDITH MAY |
Michael Jansson. 22+' Beckmann launch/tugboat hull with excellent redesign of sheer profile and generous accomodations for two. Powered by a Semple compound with a Roberts type boiler. |
EMPIRICAL |
Ralph & Clare Edmonds. 14' 7" dory style hull. The entire boat - hull, engine, boiler - was built by the previous owner. The boat now lives in Vancouver, Washington, the style being admirably suited to the Columbia and other regional rivers. |
FEEBLE II |
Mike & Cinda Bowman. 19' long x 3'6" beam. Built in 1972 by Gordon Sullivan as a "challenge" boat, Feeble II is an excellent example of what one sacrifices for speed! |
FLYER |
Andrew Van Luenen. 23.5' of traditional steamboat. The owner designed and built every part of her except the bare hull. She looks as though she's moving fast even when tied to the dock. |
GEORGE H. SANDIN |
Steven J. & Avril Harcourt. 21' tugboat hull. Scripps compound engine and Semple vertical fire tube boiler. The engine speed is stepped up 2:1 allowing the engine to turn at a leisurely 160 rpm. |
GIZMO |
Jimmy Lee & Carol Jones. The 22.5' Magic hull fitted with the Mosquito Enterprises 3" + 6" x 4" steeple compound engine and VFT code boiler. Yet another treatment of a very good steamboat hull. |
GOLLIWOG |
Bob & Conni Diehl. 22.5' "Magic" type hull powered by a Simpson-Strickland 2.5" + 5" x 3" compound engine and a Roberts type watertube boiler. |
HYACK |
Paul D. & Emily Hylton. 42' fantail built in 1906 to carry passengers, she was later converted to a tugboat. A full restoration of the hull should give her many more years of service. |
HOTSPUR |
Julian & Mary Coward. 20'6" of extremely well designed hull with a Blackstaffe/Wood plant. Cliff Blackstaffe ran extensive tests in 1963 and Hotspur achieved an efficiency equal to the best Thorneycroft designs! |
IDLTIME |
Don & Ruth Mentzer. 16'steel lifeboat hull with owner designed and built engine and boiler. Don is responsible for many boilers in Pac.N.W. steamboats. His designs and craftsmanship are of quality. |
JAN L |
LeRoy & Janet Mietzner. A Thayer 19' fantail launch hull which the owner is finishing. He built the engine and boiler himself and they reflect the craftsmanship and rugged simplicity of all his work. |
JULIA C. BULETTE |
Dave Fogg. Originally a 30' US Navy launch, the owner lengthened her to 35'. The engine is a Seabury compound which had ben rusting for 25 years. The owner and Gordon Grant built the B & W style boiler. |
KATIE ANN TOO |
Roger C. & Kathleen Waton Ulsky. Built of plywood using the "stitch and tape" method to plans from GlenL, the owner was steaming in a few months (not years)! |
KEN ROSS |
Kemper Freeman. 22' fantail hull with a triple expansion engine. She now sports a partially enclosed cockpit in the Thames launch style and a new B & W type boiler from Everett Engineering. |
